This Weekend: Road Atlanta and Silverstone!
So where would be like to be this weekend? For our US followers then it has to be Road Atlanta for the HSR’s ‘The Mitty’ meeting – which has Porsche as the feature marque and with racing staring today offers a packed programme of action. In the UK then tomorrow at Silverstone sees the first of the VSCC’s ‘Formula Vintage’ meetings, with an exciting programme of classic race cars from pre-war onwards in the usual relaxed environment the club always provide.
The Mitty is one of the jewels in the HSR’s crown and with 27-races over the three days there is no shortage of on-track activity. All the usual HSR run groups are present and there are three one-hour endurance races for varying categories. See our event preview: http://bit.ly/2ochCxD
Silverstone on Saturday sees a mix of the VSCC’s own series and some quality ‘guest’ races. The Vintage Racing Cars, Pre-1961 Racing Cars and road-going Pre-war Sports-Cars are all in action, as well as the eclectic pre-war line-ups for the popular All-Comers scratch and handicap formats.
Other series present include the Historic Grand Prix Cars Association (HGPCA), Formula Junior and the 500 Owners Association, prominent 1950s/60s series FISCAR and the HRDC, and also the Morgan Challenge Series and Classic Ferrari.
