To round off 2015 we have put together some of the images that remind us of great moments for meetings from the year!

They start with some of the cars at the early season shows – the Lotus 38 Indianapolis racer that was on display at Autosport International, and the then the mighty BRM V16 that was at Race Retro, 600BHP plus from a 1.5 litre engine!

The Goodwood Members’ Meeting was a great early season starting point, the Group C cars proving hugely popular despite not having raced at the circuit when in period, and the racing was to the usual high Goodwood standards with great access as ever to some amazing machinery.

Thruxton’s Easter Revival is very much a racer’s meeting, the weather often making it a case f the hardiest of spectators turning up to enjoy what is undoubtedly at great meeting. The circuit has teeth though, and in two Lotus Cortinas were rolled at the same corner in the first two days – a reminder that even historic racing sees drivers pushing to the limit.

The Silverstone Classic was as strong as ever, and organisers claimed their target of 100,000 spectators was achieved despite the opening and final days of the meeting being rain-lashed, many qualifying sessions taking pace behind the Safety Car. That didn’t stop the racing being entertaining, Sunday in particular seeing cars being raced hard on a streaming circuit.

Our trip the the second Classic 24 Hour at Daytona was eye-opening not just for the classic venue as the opportunity to see cars not usually out at European meetings as well as to sample the very different approach to historic racing they have in the US. A friendly and open meeting, the whole trip was a delight and the sight of Group C cars on the steep banking was one for the memory!

The VSCC’s Winter Driving tests at Bicester Heritage was a highlight, some of the routes taking the cars through the airfield hangers!

We would off our gallery with a look back at the Goodwood Revival – now the benchmark historic race meeting in terms of not only the racing but the atmosphere that the organisers work so hard to ensure really does recreate the circuit’s racing heyday.

Many thanks go to Mike Groom and Jakob Ebrey for the use of their images as part of this gallery.
