Bob Berridge’s Nissan won the second Group C race of the Silverstone Classic, taking an easy victory after Saturday night winner Nathan Kinch retired on the opening lap.

Kinch’s Lola was slow away at the rolling start, and the car was cruising just a few corners in with a gearbox issue. Berridge started to ease away and was never threatened over the 14 laps, taking an unopposed in in his Nissan R93.

Behind, Katsu Kubota was second, with Mark Sumpter, who had briefly been deposed to fourth by Robin Ward’s Spice on the opening lap, third. With the leader gone the next three were evenly spread, when the order was shaken up as the Nissan R90CK of Kubota spun in the Loop on lap five.

That moved Sumpter up to second, Kubota rejoining in fourth and quickly hunting down Ward to take third. With that, the order was pretty static to the end, Berridge opening a gap and Kubota unable to make much impression on Sumpter’s advantage.

Mike Wrigley looked on course to make it two C2 wins for the weekend in his Argo, but retired on his tenth lap leaving Frank Lyons ahead in the class in his ALD. In the final laps the Spice of Frederic da Rocha closed in, Lyons staying clear by a second at the flag.
